LENDABLE MENDABLE VENDABLE is a performance installation and film by artists Sarah Cockings and Harriet Fleuriot. The project investigates objects we live and work with as peculiar agents of (dis)satisfaction and (un)fulfilment.

Lendable Mendable Vendable provides a restorative adventure gameshow retail park… for things. Unwanted objects are put through a series of physical and virtual transformations using a custom-built, human-controlled machine, performed by Sarah Cockings and Harriet Fleuriot, with live sound design from Luke Fraser.

Systematically analysed, processed and enhanced in front of a live audience, the objects are then returned to their owners.  These processes are amplified via a network of computers, projectors, screens and sound system, with generated material playing back live within the space and online, alongside pre-produced video.

ART NIGHT

7TH JULY 2018

The Nine Elms Point residential reception area in London was transformed for one night only by Lendable Mendable Vendable, commissioned by Art Night London with support from Barratt Homes.

"The more playful works of the festival included Lendable Mendable Vendable (2018), an interactive performance installation by Harriet Fleuriot and Sarah Cockings which explored the dissatisfaction or unfulfillment owners have with the objects that they own. These unwanted items were put through ‘a series of physical and virtual transformations using a custom-built, human-controlled machine.’ The elaborate set, replete with green screen and obstacle course, felt like a rejection of domesticity, or perhaps a rejection of the kind of futile domesticity that consumerism has fabricated."
